I received my first rejection letter and I was so thankful. It came from Scarletta Press Now I have received many form rejection letters. Some have multiple choice reasons for not accepting the manuscript which are then checked. There are also the publishers who send you nothing and say if you don't hear from us by .... then it's been rejected. So to received a letter telling me a reason for the rejection was so helpful. I wasn't mad, I wasn't sad. I reread my story with their thoughts in mind and could totally agree with them.
So a big thank you to Scarletta Press for taking the time to tell me why. I am most appreciative.

Keep it simple
I've started 12x12. I have joined 3 more Facebook groups. I have more writer blogs added to my list.
Between reading the blogs and reading the Facebook groups feeds I am finding HOURS have passed and I have written zip. I'm polishing a couple of stories to submit to magazines which finding the right magazine is another HOURS time. I want to do some of the other opportunities I see out there but then I want to be focused.
I am learning so much from the people in these Facebook groups and the blogs and the websites but I need to remember to practice and use what I am learning.
I have the highest respect for those people who have children at home and are also writing books. Their management skills have got to be fantastic!

12x12 Here I Come!
I've got my pencils sharpened. I've got my stack of yellow legal paper handy. My computer is charged and ready to handle the tapping. My eyes are open looking for the right words. My nose is ready to sniff out ideas. My brain is a cluttered mess and my heart is saying, Go for it. And so I shall.
The goal is 12 drafts or revisions in 12 months. This is my first time but I have a feeling it won't be the last.

Books to Read in 2014
GOAL:
To read 50 books in 2014.
I don't have a list of particular books because I seem to find ones accidentally while reading different blogs and websites. I do however want to read the old series of color fairy tale books. I've read the Brown Fairy Tale book and want to read the others. I also want to read Gloria Whelan's books, early chapter books, nonfiction books for kids and always picture books.
I've started a spreadsheet to keep track of the books and have made the commitment at goodreads.
